And ANOTHER thing...

*
Have you noticed how ABSENT the city's department heads and administrator are at COMMUNITY EVENTS these days?

PT was struck again by this at the opening event for Hispanic Heritage Month on Thursday evening.

PT remembers department heads and administrators as far back as Hank Kita showing up at important community affairs -- just because they were IMPORTANT COMMUNITY AFFAIRS.

These community-minded public servants -- not all of whom lived in Plainfield -- didn't think of themselves as 9-to-5ers. PT especially remembers Hank Kita, Walt McNeil, Tom Morrison, Norton Bonaparte, Pat Ballard Fox, Tracy Bennett, Priscilla Castles, Mike Lattimore and Jiles Ship.

The new crew doesn't seem to share the same perspective. If it doesn't deal directly with their job duties, they're outta here at 5 PM.

Progress, I guess.
