‘RHYTHM & BLUES BY THE BROOK’
Cedar Brook Park, Saturday, June 10 - Noon to 7 PM

Plainfield, N.J. - The Freeholders Board will sponsor a free outdoor music festival, “Rhythm & Blues by the Brook,” today, from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Brook Park.

Headlining the all-day concert will be Roberta Flack. Her many hits include: “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” “Reverend Lee,” “Do What You Gotta’ Do,” and “You’ve Got A Friend.” Ms. Flack is planning her forthcoming album and is currently hard at work in the studio. Ms. Flack is a last minute replacement for Issac Hayes who was forced to withdraw from the concert because of an illness.

Also appearing at Cedar Brook Park will be The Amount Boyz, Maya Azucena, as well as The Bernard “Pretty” Purdie All Star Band with Special Guests, including: Phoebe Snow, Steve Cropper, "Blue Lou" Marini, "Bones" Malone, Will Lee (from Late Night with David Letterman), and Leon Pendarvis (from Saturday Night Live).

“Rhythm and Blues by the Brook is also a celebration for food lovers and for families with young children, who can enjoy the fun, games and music of the Kids Kingdom Traveling Jubilee,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. The Kids Kingdom Traveling Jubilee will take place from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m.

Concert goers should bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on and may bring a picnic lunch. A nearby food court will offer a “taste of spring” for those who prefer to purchase a variety of satisfying dishes and beverages at reasonable prices.
