Found in today's garbage...

*
Tuesday is garbage pickup in my neighborhood.

Retrieving my garbage bin from the curb about 6:15 this morning, I found this flyer stuck half inside the lid, courtesy of the PMUA. I'm guessing some neighborhoods got it yesterday and others today. It may not be classy, but it surely is a novel way to get communications from the Mayor.

Read the flyer. Mark your calendar. Come out to the Mayor's town hall meeting Thursday evening.

Why is the PMUA - a non-city entity - delivering city communications? We didn't put out our garbage last night - does that mean we are not invited??

Now we know what those 5th Wednesdays are for: flyer distribution training!

When the city finds a way to save money, people complain.

On a serious note, were the PMUA commissioners advised about this distribution being done on workers' time? Who did all the work of organizing and dividing up this huge citywide distribution job? Was it PMUA workers? Is this part of their contract? Will the cost of this extra time be added to our sewer bills? If you don't have a garbage can, will you not know what is going on in the city?

A few days ago the city's web site said the meeting was scheduled for 6:00. The city's web site now says it starts at 7:00 pm and the mayor's welcome letter also says its scheduled for 7:00.

BUT...the flyer says it starts at 6:30 pm. Did the city create the flyer or did the PMUA? Who is running the meeting? And who is giving instructions to the web administrator?

The PMUA commissioners should be held responsible for this. Who are they?

Why aren't they covering economic development in this session?

Please ignore the comment regarding economic development on their agenda. We can now read the blownup flyer on Plainfield Today and see a discussion of potential development projects
