PT received several emails yesterday about the Halloween night assault on Leland Avenue.
As you may be aware, media coverage of Plainfield crime has been curtailed in recent months. PT has pointed this out before -- and that there are two sides to the question of crime reportage.
One is that changes in the way the media GATHER news and what topics they focus on have meant that reporters have larger beats -- often covering several towns or getting special assignments -- and consequently less time to hang out at Police Headquarters going over incident reports.
The other is that the Administration seems to be making the information less available than it used to be in the past, notwithstanding Executive Order 69 -- whose Section 3 goes into detail about what kind of information is to be made public -- for which County prosecutors are charged with developing guidelines.
GETTING THE WORD OUT
If you witness or are aware of a crime that would be of interest to the general public, you can bring it to the attention of the media by using the following contact information.
Just because reporters do not have the time to trawl for crime news does not mean they are not interested in pursuing and writing up crime news that affects the community. They are always interested in getting leads on local stories -- crime or otherwise. Contact them.

What I find interesting is that our Mayor whose platform was on reducing crime in our city has not lived up to that pledge. While she is escorted everywhere by her tax pd bodyguards(PPD) the rest of us taxpayers are left to fend for self.C.Booker who has rec'd legitimate threats still finds in easy to walk around Newark and live in the housing projects without guards. I guess payback for their support during her campaign is being pd. out of the safety of the residents.
