Hispanic Heritage Month a big success

*

With a rousing closing concert of Ecuadorian and Colombian music and a sampler of the Flamenco dance arts of Spain, Plainfield's most ambitious recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month ever wrapped up last night at Washington Community School.

Who would show up for a Friday evening cultural program, PT thought as he made his way to the school. Plenty of people, it turns out. And they got not only a musical treat, but a gustatory celebration of the foods of Central and Latin America.

All for free, courtesy of the Plainfield Cultural & Heritage Commission, the Plainfield Latino Coordinating Committee and the Plainfield Public Schools. Other sponsors over the month of cultural events have included Union County College-Plainfield and the Plainfield Public Library.

If you missed it, mark your calendar for next year's celebrations. Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 yearly.
